Shakira on Top at Billboard Latin Awards

BMI Award-winning songwriter/artist Shakira was the top winner at the 2006 Billboard Latin Music Awards, held April 27 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Fla. The Colombian superstar took home five trophies, including four for the chart-topping smash "La Tortura" from her Spanish-language release Fijacion Oral Vol. 1, named Latin Pop Album of the Year in the female category.

Latin Grammy Nods Spotlight BMI Artists

Caf� Tacuba's Emmanuel Del Real leads the list of BMI songwriter/artists nominated for the 5th Annual Latin Grammy Awards with five nods, it was announced recently at a press conference in Los Angeles. The ceremony, set for Sept. 1 at LA's Shrine Auditorium, will be broadcast live on CBS from 8-10pm ET/PT and hosted by George Lopez.
