The Colombian-born Latin pop singer, one of his country's best-selling artists, got his start in tropical acts such as Grupo Niche and has gone on to a very successful solo career. He is currently in the middle of selecting material for his fourth studio album on Sony Discos and has just finished a House of Blues tour across the US.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[Performing rights organization BMI will present its &#8220;Latin Lingo III&#8221; showcase on Thursday, February 20 at Club Groove, (125 McDougal Street at the corner of West 3rd) in NYC. Showtime is 7 p.m. &#8211; 9 p.m. and admission is FREE. Started by BMI&#8217;s Jessie Lema, Associate Director of Latin Music, the series features up-and-coming BMI Latin songwriters from the U.S., Puerto Rico and South America.<P></P> <P align="left">Opening in the 7 p.m. slot, <B>Diony</B>, a young romantic Salsa singer/songwriter native of Colombia. He began singing at Festivals in his native Barraquilla at a very early age. By 17 he&#8217;d written his first song and, two years later, he relocated to the U.S where he stated working with well-known producer Rene Leyva.</P> <P align="center"><IMG src="/showcases/200302/images/lingo_diony.jpg" width="300" height="197"></P> <P align="left"><B>Sano-In</B> will be up next with his unique brand of Latin hip-hop. Born in the Dominican Republic he relocated as a child to Spanish Harlem. He uses his multi-cultural background to deliver the hip-hop message in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese with sometimes hilarious results. Sano-In has been working with Wu-Tang Clan producer Choco.</P> <P align="center"><IMG src="/showcases/200302/images/lingo_sano_In.jpg" width="300" height="163"></P> <P align="left"><B>Miah</B> (pronounced mee-ah) will close the show. The three sisters [Meylin, Zulay and Mavis] share Latin Soul, Pop, R&amp;B and Rock sensibilities. They first appeared together in <A id="f692" class="f692" href="/affiliate/C692">Paul Simon</A>&#8217;s Broadway production of Capeman and it was Simon who encouraged them to form the group.
