BMI distributes license fees collected from digital/cable music suppliers and background music suppliers (e.g., Muzak, PlayNetwork, IBN) when your musical works are used by these services. BMI uses performance information provided by the audio services to create a database of BMI-licensed works that are eligible to receive a royalty payment. Since the number of BMI-licensed works, as well as the amount of the license fees collected by BMI, changes from one distribution to another, the royalty rate for works performed on these services likewise varies with each distribution.
