BMI kicked off its second season of Circle of Songs to a packed house at the Gig in West Los Angeles. Although the night's festivities began later than normal, the crowd was enthusiastic and was treated to a night of performances by four highly talented singer/songwriters.

BMI's Gideon Black; Steve Barton; Patti Zlaket; Ladan Sumac; BMI's Tracie Verlinde; and Kyle Vincent.

Patti Zlaket, whose presence was polished and sophisticated, opened the show, performing material from her just-released CD Bliss. Steve Barton, whose songwriting style is heavily influenced by such retro-Brit pop acts as The Who and Iggy Pop, was up next, followed by Ladan Sumac's diverse sound, stunning voice and artistic piano style. Closing the Circle was Kyle Vincent (www.kylevincent.com), whose radio-ready, melodious pop compositions from his latest CD, Wow & Flutter, were performed superbly, as he shifted effortlessly from piano to acoustic guitar.

Featuring:

Kyle Vincent
This Berkeley, CA, native has been hailed by Billboard Magazine as “a pop music house that could stand on the same street as The Raspberries or Savage Garden” for his CD Wow & Flutter. With four albums to his credit, his music has received airplay and has been featured in both film and television. Barry Manilow said Vincent is, “one of the best singer/songwriters to come along since the heyday of Tin Pan Alley.”

Patti Zlaket
Patti’s soulful, expressive voice speaks volumes, and its range extends from gracing a tender ballad to pouring out blues burners. This talented singer/songwriter with a bachelor’s degree in theater will be celebrating her new release Bliss, described as her most eclectic offering to date.

Steve Barton
Although having his first publishing deal with ABC/Dunhill at age 14, Steve is better known as the driving force behind the 80’s band Translator, considered to be pop-rock innovators of the highest order. He has since been actively writing and has just released his debut solo CD, The Boy Who Rode His Bike Around the World. The CD is described as having admirable ambition with hooks a-plenty, driving smoothly to the intersection of new wave and power pop.

Ladan Sumac
Ladan’s dynamic style is apparent in her unique take on universal themes of love and revenge through outcries of romantic injustice and “smart-ass musings.” Exhibiting a quirky, sultry and strong quality that adds to her distinctiveness and appeal, this LA based singer-songwriter has a sassy style that pulls alternative rock into a popular format
