13th Annual Pete Carpenter Fellowship Opens
The BMI Foundation announced this week the opening of the 13th annual Pete Carpenter Fellowship for aspiring film composers under the age of 35. The Fellowship was established by the BMI Foundation and Mr. Carpenter's family, colleagues and friends to honor the late co-composer of television themes and scores including The A-Team, Magnum P.I., The Rockford Files, Hardcastle and McCormick, Hunter and Riptide.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work for one month in Los Angeles on a day-to-day basis with distinguished theatrical film and television composers. The winner will also receive up to $2,000.00 for travel and living expenses for the period of the fellowship. Mike Post, music composer for some of television's hottest shows of yesterday and today including Martial Law, NewsRadio, NYPD Blue, The A-Team, The Commish, Law and Order, Renegade, Silk Stalkings, L.A. Law, Hill Street Blues, Quantum Leap and City of Angels, supervises the Fellowship program.
The BMI Foundation receives donations from individual composers, publishers and others concerned with music, and provides grants for arts organizations involved in significant music projects or education.
