Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation Holds lsquo;Friend-Raiser’
Music industry manager Ken Kragen and wife Cathy Worthington hosted a "Friend-Raiser" for the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting instrumental music nationwide. This unique event, held at Kragen and Worthington's home in Beverly Hills on October 24, was hosted by the Foundation Board, which includes Kragen, BMI's Doreen Ringer Ross who is Board President, Executive Director Felice Mancini and Founder Michael Kamen. The reception featured a special performance by Foundation supporters Dave Koz and David Benoit with some of the students who received instruments. Celebrities such as Lesley Ann Warren, Eric Idle, Paul Stanley, Michael Des Barres joined noted composers Patrick Williams, David Kitay, Ray Bunch, George S. Clinton and many others at the event.

The Foundation used this event to increase their industry support. “We wanted to do something that not only showed who we’re giving these instruments to, but to encourage our industry colleagues to get involved in helping keep music alive in schools,” noted Ringer Ross.

The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation partners with businesses, schools and communities to provide new and refurbished musical instruments to qualified schools and individuals. The Foundation was founded by Grammy Award-winning composer Michael Kamen following his work on the film that the Foundation is named after. Celebrating their fifth anniversary, the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation has donated approximately $6 million worth of instruments to programs and individuals in the U.S.
