Tonos Gets Label Support
Tonos, the online musician/songwriter network, has inked guaranteed development deals with six record labels: Atlantic, Columbia, J Records, DreamWorks, Jive and Interscope Geffen A&M. Each will sign two Tonos members in the next 12 months.
Founded by industry veterans and longtime BMI songwriters Carole Bayer Sager, David Foster and Kenneth Babyface Edmonds, Tonos offers this service only to its tonosPRO subscribers.
"This is a truly historic announcement from the music industry and is the first time that major labels have agreed to a 'guaranteed signing' relationship with an Internet-based musician community," it says on the Tonos web site.
BMI and Tonos signed their own marketing deal at the end of last year.
