Roger Miller Museum Presents Songwriting Contest

The Roger Miller Museum has announced the launch of the Roger Miller Songwriting Contest. The contest is open to both amateur and professional writers in the categories of Country, Bluegrass, Gospel, Pop/Rock and General.

Songs will be judged by a panel of record label A&R executives, professional songwriters, music publishers and performing artists, and will be evaluated on originality, lyric content, melody and the song's overall commercial potential.

Entries must be postmarked by September 20, 2004. Finalists will be determined and notified by September 30, 2004. First Prize is $1000 and a new acoustic guitar; Second Prize is $500; and Third Prize, $100. The top three winners will also receive a Roger Miller boxed set and a year's subscription to the Roger Miller Museum Newsletter. A portion of the entry fees will be used to open the Roger Miller Museum in his hometown of Erick, Oklahoma.
