Dolly Parton to Headline BMI Showcase at 2008 SXSW Festival

Show Slated for March 14 at Austin Music Hall

The South By Southwest Music Conference and Festival returns to commandeer the streets and venues of Austin, Texas, March 7-16, 2008. On Friday, March 14, BMI will partner with SXSW to present global icon Dolly Parton live at the newly refurbished Austin Music Hall (208 Nueces St). A peerless songwriter, recording artist, film star and international ambassador of American pop culture, Dolly Parton embodies the multifarious spirit of SXSW.

Dolly Parton’s participation boldly anchors BMI’s widespread presence at the festival, which will also include the performing right organization’s annual indie rock showcase Thursday, March 13 at Club De Ville (900 Red River St); an enlightening film panel moderated by BMI Vice President, Film/Television Relations Doreen Ringer Ross on Sunday, March 9; a revealing songwriters panel moderated by BMI Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Nashville Jody Williams on Wednesday, March 13; continued sponsorship of the live music scheduled to greet travelers at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport; and a slew of additional invitation-only industry mixers and music showcases.

The South By Southwest Music & Media Conference takes place March 12 -16, 2008 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. The event will feature four days of panels, interviews, workshops, peer meetings and the trade show exhibition. Daytime events flow into the world-renowned music festival, which showcases over 1500 acts on stages throughout downtown Austin.
