NAS, Trey Songz and Novel Headline BMI 12th Annual Unsigned Urban Showcase in Atlanta

R&B Wranglers 718 Take Top Prize

The recording industry’s most eminent stars and promising talent performed at Broadcast Music, Inc.’s (BMI) 12th Annual Unsigned Urban Showcase April 23, at E.S.S.O Nightclub. Hosted by DJ Khaled, the showcase featured performances by the inimitable MC NAS; mellifluous crooner Trey Songz; and multi-talented troubadour Novel, who each brought their respective high-energy sounds.

The evening began with performances from showcase finalists Ryn Nicole, Rain, Kameron Corvet and 718, all chosen by a group of top BMI songwriters, producers and industry executives from over 300 submissions. Winning the top prize was 718 who wowed the audience and judges with their vocal arrangements, stage choreography and overall charisma. 19 -year- old ingénue Ryn Nicole was awarded the first runner up prize.

BMI Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations Catherine Brewton and hit-making wordsmith Sean Garrett presented Lil Jon with the Legends of ATL Award, which recognizes a community leader for his or her contribution to the Atlanta music scene.
