Songwriters Hall of Fame Auction Offers Pieces of Music History
The Songwriters Hall of Fame Silent Auction is well underway, with numerous top-shelf items up for grabs. Musical mementos and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities awaiting bids include a Joan Jett model Gibson Guitar, autographed by many of the 2009 Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony inductees, presenters, and performers, including Hal David, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Stephen Schwartz, Tom Jones, Felix Cavaliere, Rob Thomas, Clint Black, Kara DioGuardi, John Ondrasik, Brian Holland, Eddie Holland, James Rado, Lamont Dozier, Marilyn McCoo, Paul Williams, Roger Cook, Roger Greenway.
A rare compilation of Johnny Mercer artwork, lunch with the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, backstage meet-and-greets with Cher and Jason Mraz, a Red Floyd Rose guitar signed by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, a Fender bass autographed by Pete Wentz, and Carly Simon's hand-written lyrics of "You're So Vain" also number prominently among the offered items.
All proceeds will go towards the establishment of a permanent home for the Songwriters Hall of Fame museum in New York City, planned by both the Hall of Fame and National Academy of Popular Music. Bidding will end Tuesday, June 30.
