Cash Money’s ‘Birdman’ Discusses his Upcoming BMI Icon Award on BET’s ‘106 & Park’ Show

Posted in News on July 25, 2013

Cash Money co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams paid a visit to BET’s hit music video countdown show 106 & Park earlier this week and talked about what it meant to him and his brother Ronald “Slim” Williams to be named this year’s Icons for the upcoming BMI R&B Hip-Hop Awards, taking place on August 22, at the Manhattan Center in New York City.

The BMI Icon designation is bestowed upon artists who have had a “unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” As the 2013 honorees, the Williams brothers join a legendary list that includes Mariah Carey, the Jacksons, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Little Richard and Al Green, among others.

When asked by 106 & Park host Bow Wow what the BMI Icon Award meant to him and his brother, the Numba One Stunna humbly said, “All the work and all the years that we dedicated our life to this, for them to even see us for that, that mean the world to me. It’ll be one of the greatest moments in my career, so we lookin’ forward to that.” Check out the video of Birdman speaking on his BMI Icon Award on BET.com.
