BMI Icon Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds will be Inducted Into the 48th Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame. Pitbull, who received the BMI President’s Award in 2011, will be the first-ever recipient of the Global Ambassador Award. This Award was created to celebrate a songwriter-artist whose music has true worldwide appeal, crossing genre, cultural and national boundaries. Alan Menken, who was inducted in 2008, will be the recipient of the esteemed Johnny Mercer Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, exclusively reserved for a songwriter or songwriting team who has already been inducted in a prior year. And Ed Sheeran will be the recipient of the eminent Hal David Starlight Award.
The other 2017 Inductees are: Berry Gordy; Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis; Robert Lamm, James Pankow & Peter Cetera (Chicago); Max Martin; and Shawn “Jay Z” Carter and Caroline Bienstock will receive the Abe Olman Publisher Award. The 48th Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame will be held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.
