Kirk Franklin Top Winner at 15th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards

BMI songwriter Kirk Franklin was the top winner at the 15th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, held in Atlanta. Franklin received eight Stellar Awards, winning in every category in which he was nominated. His honors included Artist of the Year; Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year: "Lean On Me"; CD of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year and Rap/Hip Hop Gospel CD of the Year: The Nu Nation Project; Producer of the Year; and Contemporary Choir of the Year: Kirk Franklin and Nu Nation. His total of Stellar Awards now stands at 20.

Other multiple Stellar Award winners were BMI affiliates Vickie Winans and Richard Smallwood, with three each, and Donnie McClurkin and the group Men of Standard with two each.

Completing the virtual BMI-affiliated sweep were The Christianaires, Kim Burrell and Ben Tankard.
