The Key West Songwriters Fest -- whose motto is "Hit Songs by the Folks Who Wrote 'Em" - certainly delivered on that promise during their fifth annual event, held May 4-7, 2000. The concert at the Waterfront Playhouse included this stellar collection of songwriters, with more 20 #1 hits among them:
Chuck Cannon ("How Do You Like Me Now?"), Billy Dean ("Somewhere In My Broken Heart"), Chuck Jones ("Your Love Amazes Me"), Tim Johnson ("Someone You Used To Know"), Kostas ("Blame It On Your Heart"), Gretchen Peters ("Independence Day"), Mark Selby ("There's Your Trouble") and
Tia Sillers ("I Hope You Dance"). BMI is an original co-sponsor of the Key West Songwriters Fest.
