BMI-Affiliated Artists Lead 2001 Class of Rock Hall Honorees

The following BMI artists/songwriters have just been elected to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame:

  • Solomon Burke - BMI
  • The Flamingos - BMI
  • Michael Jackson - BMI
  • Queen - PRS/BMI
  • Paul Simon - BMI
  • Ritchie Valens - BMI
  • Sidemen: James Burton - BMI

Other inductees include Aerosmith, Steely Dan, sideman Johnnie Johnson and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, who was elected in the Non-Performer category. To date, BMI represents 73% of the members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2001 will be inducted on March 19, 2001 in New York. VH-1 will telecast the highlights on March 21. For more information, check out the official press release.
