BMI Songwriters Club To Feature Peter Stuart, Alana Gentry
BMI will once again host its Songwriters Club at Highland Grounds in Los Angeles on Tuesday, March 20. The open mic portion of the show will be from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., with sign-ups beginning at 7:30 p.m. There will be a special acoustic performance featuring Peter Stuart (Dogs Eye View) and Alana Gentry from 9 to 10 p.m. Highland Grounds is located at 742 North Highland Avenue. This event is free and open to the public.
The strength in Peter Stuart's songwriting stems from his ability to take intimate personal accounts and weave them into expressive and universally appealing aural snapshots. He is currently in negotiations to release his first solo CD, and recently scored the movie “All Over The Guy” with Andrew Williams. He has spent the past year touring.
An artist with an elegant charm, Alana Gentry is a singer/songwriter of deceptive power and grace. Her earthy, weathered vocals and lyrics ring out as though she’s lived every verb.
Held the third Tuesday of every month, the BMI Songwriters Club is a free monthly showcase for all genres of songwriters. The showcase series has been a huge success since its inception this year, with a tremendous amount of songwriters, producers and industry professionals attending and participating. Songwriters Billie Myers and Duane Neilson performed special sets at the last show.
The BMI Songwriters Club is one of many showcase programs hosted by the BMI Los Angeles office. Others include a monthly Circle of Songs showcase the last Wednesday of every month at The Gig in West Los Angeles, as well as quarterly New Music Nights showcases on the west coast, showcasing rock, alternative, pop and r&b artists.
