BMI Introduces Free Per Program Service for Radio Stations
BMI today announced the launch of BMI Radio Select (sm) per program services, an electronic music use reporting tool for the radio industry. The new system, which streamlines the per-program reporting process for radio stations, continues the performing rights organization’s commitment to develop new technologies to provide more services to its customers.
BMI Radio Select allows local radio station personnel to report the use of BMI music in their programming directly to the music licensing organization via the Internet. Radio Select operates similarly to BMI’s other digital tools and services such as TV Select and Electronic Music Reports. The password-protected application can be accessed through BMI’s Web site, BMI.com, from any computer 24 hours a day.
“BMI’s goal is to make music use reporting easier for all our radio customers,” said John Shaker, BMI Senior Vice President, Licensing, in making the announcement. “Radio Select is one more example of how BMI has used technology to yield greater efficiencies for our customers saving them time and money.”
BMI Radio Select was designed with the goal of simplifying and increasing the speed of the monthly reporting process which had been traditionally completed on paper reports. The application operates in real-time and will inform the user of any errors prior to the submission of the report. It can be updated daily, weekly or monthly. “The reporting procedure seemed almost too easy,” said Dan Castelli, WJAW AM/FM.
Those electing to use the electronic BMI Radio Select per program services will be able to access BMI customer support people via phone, email or fax for information or problem solving.
