‘It’s About Eve’ CD Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

Posted in News on August 21, 2002

Started two years ago by Courtright Management after the loss of a beloved family member to breast cancer, It's About Eve (Music For the Cure) is dedicated to the support and promotion of breast cancer awareness to young women through the music of independent female artists. The not-for-profit CD features such indie faves as Deena Miller, Lava Baby, Ina May Wool and Julie Greenberg, as well as several rising BMI stars including Nini Camps, Edie Carey, Shana Sharp and many others. Rocker Joan Jett also contributed to the album, lending an edgy turn to the Beatles song, "The Word," as a bonus track.

BMI artists who participated on the It's About Eve CD bonus track with Joan Jett include (front row): Gabrielle Gewirtz, Nini Camps, Rosetta Stone, Emily Bindinger, Julie Kovich and Diana Ponzio; (back row): Andrea Maybaum, Edie Carey, Kelli Owens, Shana Sharp and Jolie Rickman.

"There is no immediate cure, all women are at risk, and early detection is vital to survival," writes executive producer Hernando Courtright in the CD's liner notes. "This project honors all women who have lost the fight to breast cancer and all those who have survived it."

100% of the net proceeds go to charities that benefit cancer research and outreach programs, including the T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research, Libby Ross Foundation, and the Comedy Cures Foundation.
