2004 BMI Pop Awards: Gregg Alexander

Gregg Alexander, writer of 2004 BMI Pop Song Of the Year “The Game Of Love,” started out as a solo artist (Save Me From Myself [1989] and Intoxifornication [1991]) before forming the New Radicals in 1999. Created to be a group in which everybody was free to come, play and then leave, the New Radicals released the Alexander-produced album Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too in 1998. Its first single, “You Get What You Give,” helped propel album sales to over two million worldwide. To date, the song has received over one million spins at radio.

After disbanding the group in 1999 to concentrate on songwriting and producing, Alexander moved to London to channel his artistic vision through other recording artists. He has had no less than seven top ten hits on the pan-European charts, working with such artists as Texas, Ronan Keating, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Other credits include writing and/or producing for Geri Halliwell, Melanie C., Belinda Carlisle and Danielle Brisebois.
