BMI Signs ‘Duranguense’ Creator Jose Luis Terrazas

BMI's Delia Orjuela recently signed the multi-talented producer, songwriter and creator of the red-hot pasito Duranguense movement, Jose Luis Terrazas, of Latin group Montez de Durango. The Chicago-based band's latest release, Borrón y Cuenta Nueva (Erase and New Start), recently debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Regional Mexican chart, and the first single "Adios a mi Amante" is rapidly rising up the charts.

The group, also known for such hits as "Lagrimas de Cristal," "La Ausencia" and "El Corrido de Baltasar," has received gold and platinum albums, took the 2004 Billboard Award for Best Regional Mexican Album for De Durango a Chicago, won a 2004 Furia Musical Award for Best Regional Group in the U.S., earned a Triple Diamond Certificate in Monterrey, Mexico, for selling over three million records, and even had August 29, 2004 proclaimed "Montez de Durango Day" in Chicago. They are currently on tour in support of their new release.
