BMI Hosts Reception for Congresswoman Mary Bono

Posted in News on June 27, 2006
Congresswoman Mary Bono (R-CA) visited BMI Nashville's offices recently for a reception in her honor. Songwriters and music industry executives gathered to chat with and show support for Bono, who viewed the Nashville stop as a vital key to maintaining her strong ties to the country's creative community. "We are proud to welcome such a strong advocate of the goals and issues of our community into our house," Writer/Publisher Relations VP Jody Williams explained. "We are all grateful to her for her continued dedication and wish her much success."

Bono's keen interest in copyright issues is genuine: She manages the catalogue of her late husband, BMI songwriter Sonny Bono, and is a key proponent of the creative arts, serving on Congress's Intellectual Property Committee.
