Composer Jeff Beal Leads BMI’s Emmy Nominees

Versatile composer Jeff Beal, who picked up three nominations for the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, leads the list of BMI nominees, scoring two of his nods for the music to the epic HBO series, Rome. The 2003 double Emmy Award winner also earned a mention for Outstanding Music Composition for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special (Dramatic Underscore) with The Water Is Wide.

Other notable BMI nominees include Ed Shearmur, with a nomination for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music for Showtime's Masters of Horror; Joel Goldsmith, who will compete against Beal for the Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore) Emmy with "Grace Under Pressure" from the Sci Fi channel's Stargate: Atlantis; and David Foster, who will try to add another trophy to his mantle with an Outstanding Music Direction nod for Andrea Bocelli's PBS special, Amore Under the Desert Sky (Great Performances).

In related news, BMI congratulates TV composer Brad Hatfield, who recently scored a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Original Song. "Sunshine," which Hatfield co-wrote with Michael Kisur, was featured on the long-running soap opera, The Young and the Restless.
