BMI, along with Gibson Guitar and Billboard magazine, presented the fourth installment of the "Industry Insider" panel series entitled "Getting Your Music Licensed." The panel, held at the Gibson Guitar showroom in Beverly Hills, was moderated by BMI's Ray Yee, Senior Director of Film/TV Relations.

Panelists included key film music executives Danielle Diego, Vice President, Creative Affairs, 20th Century Fox (Drumline, The Family Stone, In Her Shoes, Brown Sugar, Fever Pitch); Mack Hill, Vice President, Music Licensing, Sony BMG Music; Dave Jordan, Music Supervisor, Format Entertainment (Fantastic Four, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, Transformers); Julianne Jordan, Music Supervisor, Music Soup (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Italian Job, Swingers); and composer/songwriter Peter Salett (Down in the Valley, Keeping the Faith). The conversations encompassed a variety of topics from getting your music licensed into film and television, negotiating a deal, creating the ideal demo, and getting your music into the right hands.

The BMI "Industry Insider" series was created along with Gibson Guitar to provide BMI songwriters with an educational forum to assist them with their career development. Moderated by a rotating group of professionals from BMI, Gibson and Billboard, the series takes an in-depth look at several core areas of the music business that are integral to career growth and success. Scheduled topics include management, music publishing and songwriting; the inaugural panel focused on A&R. The program provides songwriters with a wealth of information at no charge, offering a direct link to the inner-workings of the music business from the perspective of established music professionals.
