"Landslide"

With a career that spans almost 30 years, Stevie Nicks remains as enchanting as ever. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer adds her first BMI Country Award to an impressive collection of 12 Pop Awards and 10 Million-Airs with her song, "Landslide," named the 2003 BMI Country Song of the Year. The Dixie Chicks' version, from their platinum Monument album Home, was a Country, Adult Top 40, Hot 100 and AC Billboard charts smash. Originally a hit for Fleetwood Mac, the song earned Nicks a Pop Award in 1998 and has achieved Million-Air status with over three million airplays.

As the bewitching lead singer of 70's super group Fleetwood Mac, Nicks brought the quintet to mega stardom with songs like "Rhiannon," "Sara," "Gypsy" and the #1 hit "Dreams." A master songsmith with an evocative voice, her knack for combining romantic lyricism with folk-inflected pop was further solidified with the launch of her solo career in the 80's. As a solo artist, Nicks produced such classic hits as "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," "Stand Back," "I Can't Wait" and "Edge of Seventeen," now heard on the soundtrack to the hit movie School of Rock. Her most recent release was 2000's Trouble in Shangri -La, co-produced by Sheryl Crow and featuring guest appearances by Sarah McLachlan, Macy Gray and Dixie Chick Natalie Maines.

Born Stephanie Lynn Nicks in Phoenix, Arizona, she met fellow Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham after her family relocated to California, resulting in both a musical and romantic partnership. She and Buckingham were asked to join the group by founding member Mick Fleetwood after he heard a song from the duo's largely unnoticed Buckingham Nicks release. The move proved successful and firmly placed Fleetwood Mac on the musical map.

The band's brief reunion tour in 1997 resulted in a live album, earning Nicks widespread acclaim for her performance of "Silver Spring." Ironically, it was controversy over this song that first drove Nicks to leave the band. Fleetwood Mac will resume their European tour in the beginning of the year in support of their recently released comeback CD, Say You Will.
