For the third year in a row, BMI partnered with Neuhoff Communications to present “Behind the Hits – Songwriters for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital” at Boondocks on Saturday, February 15, in Springfield, Illinois. The evening started with a VIP dinner and meet and greet with the songwriters. The audience was then treated to performances by award-winning BMI scribes Kendell Marvel, Dylan Altman and Brandon Kinney. Marvel wrote “Right Where I Need To Be” for Gary Allan and “Startin With Me” and “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You,” recorded by Jake Owen, while Altman penned “Watch The Wind Blow By” for Tim McGraw, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” for Jake Owen and “Take A Little Ride,” recorded by Jason Aldean. Brandon Kinney is responsible for “Boots On” by Randy Houser, “You’re Like Coming Home” for Lonestar and “Outta My Head” for Craig Campbell. Proceeds from the event went to St. Jude’s.
