Big Night for BMI Writers at 2015 Billboard Music Awards
Broadcast Music, Inc. affiliates took home the majority of the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, including songstress Taylor Swift, who earned an astounding 8 awards, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist. Announced during a live broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas May 17, 2015, crooner Sam Smith (PRS) took home three awards, snagging Top Male Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist and Best New Artist, while “All of Me,” by John Legend, won Top Streaming Song (Audio) and Top Radio Song. In a world premiere event, Swift debuted the highly anticipated and star-studded music video to “Bad Blood,” the most recent single off her record-smashing and chart-topping album 1989. Performances by other top BMI acts peppered the awards show, including Little Big Town, joined by Faith Hill, singing a moving rendition of the group’s latest number one hit, “Girl Crush,” and Irish writer Hozier rocking the stage with his mega-hit and winner of the night’s Top Rock Song, “Take Me To Church.”
