Billboard Honors BMI’s Barbara Cane and BMI Songwriters at 2024 Women in Music
BMI’s Vice President of Worldwide Creative, Barbara Cane, was named one of Billboard’s Women in Music Top Executives in a ceremony on March 6 at the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, CA. Cane was recognized for her pivotal work in building and maintaining BMI’s relationships with both creators and industry executives. This accolade marks the second time Cane has been recognized by Billboard, who also honored her in 2011.
Many of BMI’s affiliates were also cited for their incredible musical contributions. GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Karol G received the prestigious Billboard Woman of the Year Award, the first Latina in history to be recognized with this honor. Rapper and recent BMI Impact Award recipient Ice Spice was given the Hitmaker Award. British singer/songwriter TEMS accepted the Breakthrough Award. Young Miko received the Impact Award, and Maren Morris was honored with the Visionary Award
Beyond the honors, the event featured some stirring live performances, including a rendition of “Not an Angel” by TEMS, an emotional airing of “GIRL” by Maren Morris and a show-stopping version of “Amargura” by Karol G fronting an all-female band.
Congratulations to all the honorees!
