Sponsored by BMI and directed by composer Rick Baitz, this year’s “Composing for the Screen,” which was held online, featured composers Fabian Almazan, Katie Jenkins, Ryan Majoris, Noah Marconi, Alicia Jo Rabins, Hal Rosenfeld, Aurélie Webb, Adele Woodson and Kerwin Young. The prestigious high-level workshop, now in its 13th season, explored a wide range of excerpts – studying, composing, recording, and sharing work in a supportive environment through a series of online interactive meetings. Students who complete the program gain greater confidence in their own voices as composers for the screen, an enhanced sensitivity to the art of scoring narrative, several strong cues for their reel, and an increased understanding of the film music business.

In follow-up to the program, the group meets on occasion during the year to share work and discuss students’ development as film composers.
