BMI teamed up recently with the Greater Austin Chapter of the Texas Restaurant Association to present a panel to their membership on the power of live music in driving traffic to restaurants and bars. The conversation focused on how to maximize revenue when featuring live music and the steps that need to be taken to do it legally. The event was hosted by Industry, a restaurant on that eastside of Austin that has been a long time BMI licensee. One of the featured panelists was award-winning BMI singer/songwriter Monte Warden who helped wrap up the evening by performing some of his biggest hits, including the # 1 smash “Desperately,” that he penned for country superstar George Strait.
This recent Texas Restaurant Association event is one of a series of sessions being presented by BMI across the country that are aimed at educating restaurant and bar owners about starting a live music program and how to obtain the appropriate music licenses.
