BMI Artist Chayce Beckham Celebrates Solo-Written No. One “23”
BMI and the Music Row community piled in the lobby of BMI’s Nashville headquarters to celebrate 19 Recordings/Wheelhouse Records/BMG’s Chayce Beckham’s first-ever No. One hit, “23.” The solo-penned chart-topper hails from the American Idol winner’s debut record, Bad for Me, and earned him his first nomination at the CMT Awards earlier this year for Breakthrough Male Video of the Year.
Hosted by BMI and emceed by BMI’s Leslie Roberts, Beckham reunited with producer Ross Copperman, each reminiscing on the song’s overnight creation during Beckham’s final days on Idol. In honor of his first No. One as a BMI songwriter, Roberts presented him with a custom Taylor 210e DLX guitar. Continuing the celebration, sponsored by Studio Bank, Ron Cox gave a special donation presentation on behalf of Beckham in support of the American Cancer Society. The afternoon concluded with Wheelhouse Records’ Ken Tucker presenting the hit songwriter with a plaque celebrating the Platinum certification of “23.”
