On October 17, BMI hosted its How I Wrote That Song® panel featuring hit songwriters and producers Yasmil Marrufo, Mario Cáceres, Servando Primera, Haze, and Patrick Ingunza at Hoy Como Ayer in Miami, on the eve of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame induction gala.

The private event kicked off with an energetic performance by singer/songwriter Paola Rodriguez, a graduate student at the University of Miami, before she was presented with the 2018 Latin peermusic scholarship, a $5,000 award, for her song “Lluvia.” BMI’s Deirdre Chadwick, President of The BMI Foundation presented the honor.

The evening’s featured panel, moderated by BMI’s VP of Creative, Latin Music, Delia Orjuela, and Executive Director, Creative, Latin Music, Joey Mercado, focused on this talented group of songwriters and producers discussing the creative process behind some of their biggest songs, including “Vacaciones” (Mario Cáceres), “Mayores” (Mario Cáceres, Servando Primera and Patrick Ingunza), “Te Quise Olvidar” (Yasmil Marrufo), “Bandolera” (Haze), “Criminal” (Haze) and “Duele el Corazón” (Patrick Ingunza and Servando Primera).
