BMI’s Anne Cecere, of the Company’s Los Angeles office, spearheaded this year’s annual sponsorship of students at Eastman School of Music’s Beal Institute for Film Music and Contemporary Media. The sponsorship includes the opportunity for the students and their director, Emmy-winning composer Mark Watters, to come to LA and participate in meetings and workshops that acquaint them with the processes involved in scoring sessions, recording, and other elements of being a working composer. This year’s participating students were Aaron Siebert, Joe Hagen, Shoghi Hayes, Darren Huang and Linyao Zhang. The Beal Institute was founded by renowned BMI composer Jeff Beal and his wife Joan, who is a very accomplished lyricist and singer in her own right. Both are alumni of Eastman.
