BMI composer Alexandre Desplat’s music for Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water was recently illuminated in a Q&A discussion with the award-winning composer after a screening of the film by the Society of Composers and Lyricists in Los Angeles. Set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962, the story revolves around a high-security government laboratory where troubled lead Elisa (Sally Hawkins) and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment, changing their lives forever.
