BMI Co-Sponsors Cutting Edge Group’s Chris Difford Songwriting Retreat

BMI was proud to co-sponsor Cutting Edge Group’s annual Chris Difford Songwriting Retreat. Held at Pennard House in the English countryside of Somerset and hosted by legendary songwriter and Squeeze co-founder Chris Difford, this prestigious songwriting program serves both established and emerging talents in an atmosphere of collaboration and songcraft. BMI was pleased to be invited to co-sponsor this initiative by Cutting Edge Group, who are also Chris Difford’s publishers.

In addition to the focus of songwriting, this year’s retreat provided an exciting opportunity for participants to write music for outlines of upcoming films and shows. BMI’s VP of Film, TV & Visual Media, Tracy McKnight, was in attendance, along with BMI affiliates Christina Perri, Jamie Hartman, Tom Howe, Fil Eisler, Jennifer Decilveo, and Steven Smith.

Between June 16 and June 20, this initiative brought together top songwriters, producers, and artists to work on new songs in a unique, one-of-a-kind setting. After the four-day workshop, the retreat then culminated with a concert on the final evening to showcase the music written during the event.
