BMI Composer Chris Lennertz Gives Thanks to All on Frontlines With “Saving Grace”
There are so many people, from doctors, nurses, assistants, and first responders, to staff, foodservice, and delivery workers, risking the health of themselves and their families, for all of us. With tremendous gratitude and utter amazement, this is BMI composer Chris Lennertz’s tribute to all those heroes. Inspired by the heartbreaking scene of a spouse dropping off their loved one at a hospital and not being allowed in, his new original song pays tribute to the exhausted doctor, and all those who look through the glass, with a smile, and make a silent connection. “Saving Grace” is performed by renowned musical theatre actors and singers Anthony Evans (Beauty and the Beast) and Gabrielle Ruiz (Evita), with real footage of the pandemic and those on the frontlines giving us hope.
The project, #BeAPart, is a developing collection of original songs and videos based on fictionalized characters, but real events, during the Covid-19 shutdown. Its purpose is to allow artists to continue to work remotely on stories, music, and film with matching donations to charities assisting those on the front lines of the fight against the virus, as well as supporting those unable to work in the music and theater communities. All of the artists recorded at home and their fees have been matched with donations to DirectRelief.org, BroadwayCares.org, and GRAMMY.com/MusiCares.
