BMI Congratulates its 2016 CMA Winners
BMI affiliates racked up several big wins at the 50th annual CMA Awards, held last night in Nashville, with Carrie Underwood taking home her fourth trophy for Female Vocalist of the Year and Eric Church winning Album of the Year for Mr. Misunderstood. Single and Song of the Year honors also went into the BMI column for Thomas Rhett, who wrote “Die a Happy Man” with BMI songwriter Sean Douglas, and for Lori McKenna, who penned Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind.” BMI songwriter Maren Morris was also named New Artist of the Year, while legendary BMI songwriter Dolly Parton received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
