BMI is once again exceptionally proud of its many Latin affiliates singled out for recognition at last night’s 22nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, held at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. As one of the music industry’s highest accolades, these awards exemplify the best and brightest talents across the musical spectrum who are responsible for the most impactful Latin music and are leading the way forward.

Among the evening’s multiple winners, singer/songwriter Beatriz Luengo collected two awards for co-writing “Patria y Vida,” notably Best Urban Song and Song of the Year. Legendary Dominican singer/songwriter/composer/producer Juan Luis Guerra received two prestigious awards, including Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Privé as well as Best Arrangement for “Ojalá que llueva café (Privé version).” It was also a victorious night for Édgar Barrera. The Mexican songwriter/producer took home two Latin GRAMMYs, including Best Pop Song for “Vida de Rico” and the coveted Producer of the Year award. A special Latin GRAMMY Lifetime achievement award was also given to legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo.

Beyond the honors, the evening was a star-studded affair complete with electrifying performances, including a dynamic opening medley from BMI Icon Gloria Estefan, a powerful collaboration between Mon Laferte, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho and Gloria Trevi, heartfelt tributes from Juanes and Anitta, a suprise performance by Christina Aguilera and a rousing airing of the Song of the Year, the Cuban rap anthem “Patria y Vida” by Descemer Bueno, Gente de Zona and Yotuel.
