BMI Congratulates its 2023 Latin GRAMMY Winners
BMI is very proud to congratulate our incredibly talented affiliates who were recognized at last night’s Latin GRAMMY Awards, which, for the first time, were held outside of the United States in Seville, Spain. With three awards each, Karol G, Shakira and Edgar Barrera were the evening’s biggest winners. Karol G took home both Best Urban Album and Album of the Year for her groundbreaking Mañana Será Bonito, as well as the Best Urban/Fusion Performance for “TQG,” her collaboration with Shakira. In addition, Shakira won both the Song of the Year Award and Best Pop Song Award for “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 53,” her chart-topping single with Bizarrap. Edgar Barrera, meanwhile, received trophies for Producer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, as well as Best Regional Song for “un X100to.”
Beyond the accolades, the evening was an exciting celebration of music, featuring live performances by Rosalía, who sang a stirring cover of Rocío Jurado’s “Se Nos Rompió El Amor,” a medley of hits by Rauw Alejandro, a live rendering of “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 53” by Shakira, as well as a performance of “Acróstico,” and Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma performed their global smash, “Ella Baila Sola,” for the first time together.
