BMI Congratulates its 2024 BRIT Award Winners
The 2024 edition of the Brit Awards took place in London, this past Saturday evening, at the O2 Arena. BMI is very proud of its songwriters who were singled out for recognition in this celebration of the best in British and international music.
The evening’s biggest triumph belonged to RAYE, who, after already breaking the record for most BRIT Award nominations for a single artist in one year, received six prestigious awards, among them Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, Song of the Year for “Escapism,” R&B Act and Songwriter of the Year, an honor that was announced last Tuesday in advance of the ceremony. RAYE is the first woman to win this new category, which was introduced in 2022, a year prior to the GRAMMYs’ implementation of their own Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical honor. The awards bookend a remarkable chapter for the London-born RAYE, whose first major award was the BMI Impact Award at the BMI London Awards in 2019.
Beyond her accolades, RAYE also performed at the ceremony, delivering an incredible medley of her hits including “Ice Cream Man,” “Prada” and the award-winning “Escapism.” Other notable performances included a rendition of “Greedy” by Tate McRae (SOCAN), an electrifying version of “Miracle” by Ellie Goulding with Calvin Harris*, and many more.
Congratulations to all the BMI winners!
