BMI Congratulates Its Winners at the 2023 Women In Music Awards

The Women In Music Awards in association with AIM (Association for Independent Music) and UK Music returned for its 10th year celebration on Friday 10, November 2023 and took place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.

Our London team headed down to the event with guests, including songwriter Savannah Jada, Eurus Music Publishing founder Beyza Ozen, composer Anne Chemelewsky, and Partner at Russells Ally Horn. Special shoutout goes to BMI family member and winner of Music Creative – Spirit Of The Studio (sponsored by Downtown), Meagan Cottone. It had previously been won by BMI songwriters Kamille in 2019 and Jessica Agombar in 2022.

Music Creative was awarded to hitmaker Maegan Cottone, who has writing credits on tracks by Sigala, Becky Hill, Jax Jones, Ella Henderon, Nathan Dawe, Little Mix, Demi Lovato, Olly Murs, Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea, Kesha, Selena Gomez, Black Eyed Peas, and more. And it was another proud moment for her long-term publisher Phrased Differently and its founder Hiten Bharadia, who handed her the award. “We all have somethng in common: a love and passion for music,” said Cottone, who used her speech to draw attention to calling for a greater share of streaming revenue for songwriters.
