BMI Congratulates Parmalee and Co-Writers on No. 1 Hit “Girl in Mine”
Music Row assembled in the BMI lobby on Tuesday, March 26, to celebrate Parmalee’s fourth No. 1 “Girl in Mine.” BMI, SESAC, and ASCAP celebrated the hit song from the band’s album, For You 2. This is Parmalee lead singer Matt Thomas’s fourth No.1, writer and producer David Fanning’s third No.1 as a songwriter, and Travis Wood’s first No. 1 in the U.S. and 10th overall.
Hosted by BMI’s Mason Hunter, the group reunited with the song’s original writers and all shared remarks. During the party, Hunter presented Wood with a custom Taylor guitar to celebrate his first BMI No.1. BBR Music Group’s EVP Jon Loba also surprised the group with a RIAA GOLD-certified plaque. Sponsored by Studio Bank, the evening highlights included a donation presentation made by Ron Cox on behalf of Parmalee and the songwriters in support of Monroe Harding, a nonprofit agency that provides services for children and young adults in or transitioning out of state custody.
