The National Association of Licensing Compliance Professionals (NALCP) held their annual conference (10/2-10/4) in Nashville recently and BMI was there to provide the musical entertainment and participate on a music licensing panel. BMI songwriter Jason White performed in front of more than 100 licensing executives representing national chains such as Starbucks, Planet Hollywood, Red Robin, Dave & Busters and Bahama Breeze. White has not only enjoyed a long history as a successful independent artist, he has written songs for both country superstars Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood, including McGraw’s # 1 hit “Red Ragtop.”
In addition to White’s performance, award-winning BMI songwriter Chris Stevens participated on a panel at the conference that gave attendees an opportunity to learn about the music ecosystem in Nashville, while providing insight into the important role that performance rights royalties play in a songwriter’s career. Stevens is a three-time BMI Christian Songwriter of the Year, and has as well written country hits for both Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean.
NALCP is a trade association representing the individuals that handle liquor and music licensing on behalf of their companies.
