Composers, directors and industry tastemakers gathered together to celebrate the power of music in film at BMI’s annual dinner on Monday, January 28, during the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The exclusive event, which took place at the Blind Dog in Park City, Utah, was hosted by BMI’s Vice President of Film, TV & Visual Media, Doreen Ringer-Ross, and gave dinner guests, including such composers as Carla Patullo, Lolita Ritmanis, Katheryn Bostic and Tamar- kali, the unique opportunity to engage in intimate conversations with their peers and network in a laid-back atmosphere with industry leaders, such as sound designer Tom Paul, music supervisor Sue Jacobs and Laura Engel of Kraft-Engel management. In addition, to these well-respected attendees, actor and musician Kevin Bacon also attended the event with his son, Travis Bacon, who is an up-and-coming film composer. The invitation-only event is another example of BMI’s mission to emphasize the importance of film scoring at the festival.
