BMI Icon John Oates Shares Stories and Songs with Maryland Restauranteurs

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and BMI songwriter John Oates was the special guest at the 2023 Restaurant Association of Maryland ‘s (RAM) Annual Awards Gala held at Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, MD. Oates was interviewed by BMI’s Dan Spears as part of an intimate VIP event that was held in advance of the Awards Gala, where he talked about his long and decorated career as a member of Hall & Oates and shared the stories behind some of the pop duo’s biggest hits while performing several of them as well as songs he has recorded as a solo artist. At the conclusion of the fireside chat, Spears surprised Oates by presenting him with BMI million air awards for 5 of his songs that have achieved 3, 4, 5 and 6 million performances on radio, respectively. Hall & Oates were honored as BMI Icons back in 2008 and were subsequently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. The RAM Awards Gala celebrates excellence in the restaurant industry in Maryland, presenting awards to Chef of the Year, Restaurant Manager of the Year, Server of the Year and Bartender of the Year.
