BMI Indie Spotlight: benches
benches is a California-based indie rock group consisting of vocalist Anson Kelley, drummer Ethan Bowers, lead guitarist Evan Ojeda, and bassist Charlie Baird. The group’s signature sound blends 90’s Britpop with 2000’s NY rock while celebrating the naivete of youth, and the excitement and worries that come with getting older. Following the success of earlier singles such as “Angry Lizard Noise” and “Monodrama,” benches collaborated with GRAMMY-nominated producer Martin Cooke on a handful of additional songs, including standout “Violent.” The band has played with notable acts such as Foster The People, Inhaler, Blossoms, Dave Keuning (The Killers), and Louis XIV, and previously toured with Ultra Q, The Red Pears and Late Night Drive Home. benches latest single “Naive” will drop end of February with an EP expected later this Spring.
