BMI Indie Spotlight: Patrick Martin
Wisconsin-born singer/songwriter Patrick Martin originally wrote songs strictly for himself. Immersed into music via his mother’s Beatles, Bob Seger and Fleetwood Mac records at a young age, Martin was inspired to pick up a guitar by one of his cousins, and swiftly started writing his own songs as a form of catharsis – either as an emotional outlet or as a means of impressing his teenage crushes. Gradually, he started taking his songwriting more seriously, which landed him in Los Angeles, but was suddenly faced with the fright of sharing his intensely personal songs with audiences. That fear vanished once he started playing, transforming him into the high-energy performer he is today. On the back of several acclaimed Pop/Rock singles, Martin is preparing for the July 12 release of his new EP, Velvet Time, which features contributions from producers Nick Lobel (Harry Styles, Leon Bridges) and Tim Pagnotta (Walk the Moon, Neon Trees).
