The Rare Occasions are an LA-based, New England-bred indie rock band known for their explosive garage rock anthems and catchy vocal harmonies. Brian McLaughlin (vocals) and Luke Imbusch (drums) have been making music together since their early teenage years and formed The Rare Occasions while attending college in Boston, where they met Jeremy Cohen (bass). Since then, the band has toured nationally, won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and released a vast catalog of music online, including their first album as a trio, 2021’s Big Whoop. Around the release of Big Whoop, their 2016 song “Notion” went viral on TikTok and topped Spotify’s viral chart in the US and several other countries, eventually landing on Billboard’s Alternative tally and charting in countries like the UK, Ireland, and Canada. This fall, The Rare Occasions will release a new EP led by first single “Seasick,” which has already picked up steam on radio, including SiriusXM’s Alt Nation. The second single from the EP will be “Not Afraid” and will drop on September 16. They look forward to sharing their unique blend of hard-hitting riffs, danceable grooves, and ear-catching melodies with audiences across the US and Canada during their upcoming fall tour.
