BMI Latin Spotlight: Marca MP

Formed in 2018 by a quartet of high school friends, Marca MP is a California-based Regional Mexican group influenced by banda, mariachi, ranchera, and sierreño. The group consists of Pedro Vargas aka “El Chato” (lead vocals), Omar Valdivia (guitar), Ernesto Franco (tuba), and Ismael Villano (tololoche). Marca MP released their debut EP, En Vivo, in 2019, featuring the hit single “El Guero.” The group went on to release a slew of albums and EPs in the following years, including five digital-only live albums, the studio-recorded Flores EP, the studio long-player No Me Quejo, the 19-track Aunque Digan, and their latest album, the sierreño style, Lealtad. In addition to their independent releases, the group has collaborated with some of the hottest acts in Latin music, including Grupo Firme, Tony Aguirre, and Los Dareyes de la Sierra. In 2023, they snagged a Latin American Music Award for their collaboration with Becky G on “Ya Acabó,” and earlier this year, the quartet was nominated for the prestigious Artista Revelación Regional Mexicano award at the 2024 Premio Lo Nuestro. Marca MP is currently in the middle of their SIMPLEMENTE MARCA TOUR, with stops across the United States and Mexico.

Formado en 2018 por un grupo de amigos de la secundaria, Marca MP es un conjunto de California dedicado a la música regional mexicana con influencias de banda, mariachi, ranchera y sierreña. El grupo consta de Pedro Vargas, alias “El Chato” (cantante principal), Omar Valdivia (guitarra), Ernesto Franco (tuba) e Ismael Villano (tololoche). Marca MP sacó su primer EP, En vivo, en 2019, con la exitosa canción “El güero”. El grupo luego lanzó varios discos y EP con los años, entre ellos cinco álbumes en vivo y solamente digitales, el EP Flores, que se grabó en estudio; el disco de estudio y larga duración No me quejo; Aunque digan de 19 canciones; y su álbum más reciente al estilo sierreño, Lealtad. Además de la música que ha lanzado independientemente, el grupo ha colaborado con algunos de los más populares intérpretes de la música latina, entre ellos Grupo Firme, Tony Aguirre y Los Dareyes de la Sierra. En 2023 logró un premio Latin American Music Award por su colaboración con Becky G en “Ya acabó” y hace unos meses el grupo fue nominado al prestigioso galardón al Artista Revelación Regional Mexicano en el Premio Lo Nuestro de 2024. Marca MP está en plena gira SIMPLEMENTE MARCA, con fechas por todo Estados Unidos y México.
