BMI Mourns the Loss of Longtime Employee Faye Anthony Smith
BMI is saddened by the loss of longtime BMI team member Faye Anthony Smith, who passed away on September 13, 2019. Faye joined BMI in 1979, beginning as a receptionist before becoming the Corporate Events Coordinator in both the Nashville and New York offices. She loved music and working on events for the songwriting community under the direction of her dear friend and former President & CEO of BMI, Frances W. Preston. Though Faye retired from BMI in 2007, she always remained a part of the BMI family.
Born November 28, 1935, in Tifton, Georgia, Faye moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, as a young girl. She graduated from Palm Beach High School and attended Florida State University before transferring to Auburn University, where she helped establish the Pi Beta Phi sorority chapter. Moving to Nashville following college, Faye taught school for several years before joining BMI.
Faye’s wonderful legacy of service to BMI continues on through her daughter, Alison Smith, BMI’s Executive Vice President of Distribution, Publisher Relations & Administration Services, who herself has a distinguished tenure of over three decades and counting.
Brightening every room she entered with her infectious smile, style and grace, Faye enjoyed time spent with family and friends to the fullest. She will be dearly missed and remembered by her BMI family.
